Our poultry has been reared according to local farming traditions for over a century. As soon as the 1960s, the “Eleveurs de Challans” group decided to conform to the ‘Label Rouge’ poultry breeding requirements. The underlying philosophy is as far removed as possible from intensive farming and output !
Challans breeders are strongly committed to letting their poultry range freely in small flocks in natural grassy and shaded areas, in open fields (10% greater surface area than required for ‘Label Rouge’ certification). As far as feeding is concerned, Challans poultry benefits from a natural cereal-based diet, with no animal-based flour or fat… and available at all times.
